From the Desk of Carrie Bradshaw

Having a man in your life that works 9-5 must be a wonderful luxury. In my world I must live with the instability that comes with dating a man who works different shifts. I spent the late afternoon and into evening being comforted by my friends; Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte. I found myself discussing options of the day with my roommates; Jackson and Darcy. Much to their dismay, I have wandered to the posh dinner spot of Glen Allen...the Panera Bread. I am comforted by Broccoli and Cheese Soup and a dry Greek Salad. I feel as I should be out and about, but all of my close friends are far, far, away. Those that are close are preoccupied with family, tragedy, loved ones, and work. I find myself dreaming of wandering the streets of Erlangen and Nuremberg, wishing I could be back there. Even when I was alone, I never felt alone. I feel it now. I don't want to push myself on my friends, but I think its time I start making more local friends. I had plenty in high school, an extreme plethera of them in college- I never had to worry about who to be with- I was booked. But right now. I've never been to a restaurant alone. Though, I am quite pleased with free internet. No cable and No internet at the condo right now. I don't feel comfortable with that yet, since my man isn't pulling in a lot of cash.

dreaming of streets of a big city.

It's easy to feel alone in big cities too... like the Real City is happening somewhere where you aren't. B&N has free WiFi now, too (finally!) if you need a change o' pace. Excited I get to see your home sweet home in September!

I know, as I drove home I went past B&N and that will be my next stop for free WiFi. Possibly later today. Now, stealing free parental WiFi.

i know how you feel. being in farmville this summer has definitely been eye-opening for me, and i've spent a lot of time alone...and you know how that usually ends up. but, it hasn't, especially towards the end.

think of all the cool things you can do on your own: go to the farmer's market, start a garden, scrapbook/be artsy-craftsy (which you're EXCELLENT at!), read books you've never read before--plan lessons for your kids! :) enjoy the downtime while you have it. it will soon give way to the busy life! all my love!

Hey you! I just found your blog :)

I find myself dreaming of Erlangen and Nuremberg, too. AND right now, I dream of being taken care of by our dear host mom. I like your blog and I feel a lot like you in our new town. I feel like I need to make more of an effort to find friends, but often feel like a real homebody. i never thought that would be me.
